CVD diamond (Synthetic diamond, Chemical vapor deposition diamond, laboratory grown diamond) is diamond produced in an artificial process, as opposed to natural diamonds created by geological processes.
Unlike the HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) method, the CVD process creates a carbon plasma over a substrate onto which carbon atoms deposit to form diamond. This occurs at pressures typically under 27 kPa.
Key Advantages: Ability to grow over large areas, precise control over chemical impurities, and tailored properties for industrial applications.
